How to set up your Ref Centre Account (C3 level referees and above)

Setting up your Ref Centre account involves 3 steps:

  1. Registration
  2. Setting your preferences
  3. Setting your availability

Please follow these instructions as soon as possible in order to be assigned games.

1. Registration

To register, do the following steps:

  1. Visit www.refcentre.com
  2. Look for the "Register" button on the homepage and click on it. You will be asked to enter the activation code.
  3. After submitting the activation code, you will be taken to the registration page. Select your name from the drop-down box listing referees. Take care to ensure that you register under your own name.
  4. Complete the registration page and click the submit button to finalize your registration.
  5. After completing your registration you will be shown a Ref Centre intsruction page to help get you started on Ref Centre. When you have read the instructions, click on the "Continue" button at the bottom of the help page.
  6. After the instruction page, you will be taken to the main, Ref Centre application homepage. To return to the Ref Centre instruction page, click the help (?) link in the top right of the homepage.

You are now registered. However, you still must set up your preferences before you can receive game assignments.

2. Setting your Preferences

Please follow these instructions accurately. If you do not, you will not receive any game offers from Ref Centre.

  1. Put your cursor on the "Preference" menu item at the top of the page, and select "Districts" from the sub menus that appear under it. Please note your home district that is displayed at the top of the page that loads. If this is incorrect, please contact Ref Centre support at support@refcentre.com. If you wish to guest referee in other districts, select them here by checking off the appropriate check boxes and pressing the "Submit" button.
  2. Select the "Leagues" link from the list of preference options that appear in the far left column. The League page will open with a series of leagues that will be on Ref Centre this summer. Check off the leagues that you would like to officiate in and click the "Submit" button to save your league preferences.
  3. Now select "Day" from the links on the left. The Day preference page will open with a drop-down list box for each day of the week. Select which league you would prefer to officiate in on each day of the week. The drop-down list will default to the first named league that you selected. When you are satisfied with your selections, click on the "Submit" button.

Ref Centre will try to assign you games in your preferred league first for a given day. If it can not give you a game in your preferred league, it will then attempt to give you a game in one of the other leagues that you have selected in your league preferences.

If you are never available on a given day of the week (Friday for example) you must still enter a preferred league for that day. To ensure that you don’t get offered a game on a Friday, just make yourself unavailable for each Friday on your availability calendar (see section 3 below).

  4. Select "Kick Offs" from the links on the left. The Kick Off preference page will open. If you have a preference for early or late games, select them here; otherwise keep the setting at "Don't Care".

If you select early games, Ref Centre will only give you evening games that kick off between 5:00pm and 7:59pm.

If you select late games, Ref Centre will only give you evening games that kick off between 8:00pm and 11:59pm.

Click the "Submit" button to save your settings.

  5. Select the "Fields" link on the left. The Fields preferemce page will open showing the field zones in your district. When you check off a zone you are accepting all the fields in that zone.

The higher graded referees will only see two choices: Preferred and Acceptable. The page will default to Acceptable for all zones.

The remaining referees will see Preferred, Acceptable and Not Acceptable. In this case Not Acceptable is the default choice.

If you set a zone to Not Acceptable, Ref Centre will never offer you a game for a field in that area.

Please select your choices and click the "Submit" button to save your field preferences.

  6. Now select "Divisions". The Divisions page will open showing you the leagues that you selected.

Click on each league and the divisions for that league will appear.

You have 3 options for each division: Referee and AR, AR Only or None. The default is None

If you select None, Ref Centre will not offer you a game in that division. If you select AR Only, Ref Centre will only offer you an AR appointment in that division. If you select Referee or AR, Ref Centre could give you either position for that division.

If you see a dash (-) in the Ref or AR column, it means you are not graded high enough to referee that division. If you see a dash in the AR column, it means that division does not use AR’s.

Select your choices for each league and click the "Submit" button to save the choices.

Your preferences are now set up. You may change these settings at any time. Now you need to set up your availability.

3. Setting up your Availability

Please follow these instructions accurately. If you do not, you will not receive any game offers from Ref Centre.

  1. Put your cursor on the "Games" menu item at the top of the page, and select the "Availability" option.
  2. The calendar for the current month will appear. Check off the days that you wish to be available for that month.

If you leave the day unchecked, Ref Centre will not offer you any games on that day.

Important: make sure that you click on the "Update" button to save your changes.

  3. Now change the month to the next month in the season and set up your choices for that month. Again, click the "Update" button to save your settings for that month. Continue this for as many months of the season as you can.

If you have followed these instructions, you will be set up to start receiving game offers.
